sixteen92 Halloween collection

Hey everyone! Today I’m covering yet another sixteen92 collection, this one for Halloween. Sixteen92 really shines in the fall I think, some of their best scents come out then. These ones are inspired by and named after different haunted places all over the world, and the full sized bottles have a little Ouija planchette on them, which is p cute!

I also got a full size of Cotton Mather from the fall collection, isn’t it beautiful?

Fortune Cookie Soap–I’m addicted to their hand sanitizer, ok??

Hi everyone! Today I’ll be talking about a recent order I got from Fortune Cookie Soap. Fortune Cookie Soap is a fun, quirky company named after their flagship product: a soap bar that’s shaped like a fortune cookie! They have a lot of other fun products, too. They even offer a quarterly subscription box that I used to be subscribed to. I recently made a big order because I ran out of their hand sanitizer, which is my faaavorite. I’m really excited to share what I got with you! Let’s go!

It’s the most wonderful time of the year! (HoG Autumn 2016)

Hey everyone!

Happy autumn! It’s time for cooler weather, pumpkin spice lattes, and wearing boots and scarves. If only the weather would cooperate (global warming! *shakes fist*). The other thing I love about fall, though, is the perfume! Autumn perfumes are my absolute favorites, if you couldn’t tell by my sixteen92 Autumn Collection review.

Today I’ll be talking about Haus of Gloi’s autumn collection! Or, a very small part of it. I only got two new perfumes this year, because I had collected the rest in years past (#gottacatchemall). I’ll be re-reviewing those soon (and maybe reviewing some of them for the first time?), as part of my Journey in Aging series.

New company review: The Porcelain Tub

Today I’m writing about a newish indie perfume company, The Porcelain Tub. I read a rave review of them and decided I had to try them out for myself. One cool thing is that not only do they make allegedly awesome perfume oils, they also donate part of their proceeds to various organizations that help save the oceans. This month (September 2016) the featured charity is Oceana, which makes science-based campaigns to change policy to help save our oceans.

sixteen92 Fall Collection

Why do I talk about perfumes so much? Obviously because I like perfumes, but I find reviewing them to be relaxing and methodical. I also think it’s fun to guess what things smell like! I’m not very good at it yet, I guess things wrong all the time (see: Tituba, at the end). But I think I’m getting better and it’s a lot of fun!

Writing about perfumes also helps me collect my thoughts. I have a LOT of perfumes now, especially little sample vials. Writing down what I think of them helps me decide if I want to revisit them, or gift them, or get a full size. It also helps me organize a little. For example, I never reviewed sixteen92’s spring collection, and I didn’t realize until recently that I received 2 vials of Blanket of the Dark instead of A Thousand Times More Fair, which is sad because the latter sounds amazing (honeysuckle, plums, and peaches!).

Anyway, today I’ll be talking about sixteen92’s Fall 2016 collection. Claire, the lovely owner, based this collection on, fittingly, the 1692 Salem Witch Trials. Sixteen92 is one of my favorite perfumeries, and I love fall scents, so I’m really looking forward to this collection.

A Journey in Aging: HoG Summer

Today’s aging review is for Haus of Gloi‘s summer collection. Unfortunately I never actually reviewed this collection on the blog! So I don’t have notes to compare my thoughts. 😦 I guess we can consider this my official HoG summer review then.

I also used this opportunity to review the Tonics. In the spring, Haus of Gloi sometimes releases scents called “Tonic #x.” This year, they were #3, #4, and #5. These aren’t really aged (they’re about 6 months old), but I wanted to touch on them because they are thematically similar to the summer collection (lots of green notes), and because I haven’t given them a review here yet!
